Jack Frost Came Out To Play

Jack Frost came out to play on Sunday when Junior, Elite & Masters Athletes flocked to Gumeracha for round 3 of the Skinny Lattes Cycling Club Race Series.

Senior Women lined up on a 56.7km course in a handicap race. This is never the easiest things to get right on a flat course let alone one that had so many leg sapping undulations and a heavy road surface.

With the small bunches working to catch the 3 riders off limit, and to stay away from those chasing, groups were caught and passed, the small scratch group of Liz Buckley & Rhiannon Hughes used their impressive ability racing Time Trials to reel in chopping block, but this combined grouping did not, unfortunately, have the firepower to chase down those in front who were burying themselves to stay away.

Eight U17 Women, who had all raced on Saturday told their understandably tired legs to take a back seat as they tackled the lumpy course, these young athletes were inspiring, as they battled the never ending hills around Martins Hill. Those that dropped off the pace realised the strength in regrouping with others who had also popped, sharing the workload and working together hoping to slowly regain some lost ground.
